I found a pair of these in a discount store (Marshall's) for 10 bucks but I had a problem with the cord getting bent near the jack and sound cutting out. I went to Amazon.com and found the same ones and bought two pair and have had no problems this time around. They truly are noise cancelling, and very comfortable. I use them with a USB mp3 player so I have music in my ears all day long and the sound that these tiny earphones produce is shockingly good. I would expect this kind of quality from Bose, and expect to pay hundreds for it, but at this price, everyone can afford to enjoy incredible sound. The sound is crisp and clear and the bass is deep and full. You can listen to everything from Norah Jones and Sade to Linkin Park and Korn, or even rap like Ice Cube and Eminem, and it all sounds perfect. I love listening to acoustic versions of my favorite rock songs like the popular acoustic version of "Everlong" by the Foo Fighters...you'd think Dave Grohl was sitting across from you playing it when you hear it through these. I think the A4 Tech people have really made an excellent product and priced it very well to make it affordable because honestly I would have paid 50-60 for these but not everyone can afford to spend that on something like this. For a compact earphone, these simply cannot be beat!!...

These are definitely great earphones. The earbuds have a metallic shell which makes them very sturdy and smooth to the touch. The silver color you see on the photo, from the stem to the earpiece, is metallic. The earphones come with 2 pairs of extra rubber buds. As for the sound quality, the in-ear design makes for very good sound insulation and isolation. The bass is deep and strong. The highs and mids are clear enough. My only complaint is that the cord seems too long, about 5 inches longer than the usual ipod earphones. This might be a positive thing for some people though. It would also have been nice if they put the brand name on the earbud itself. In sum, I highly recommend these earphones, especially since they come at a great price. Try to get them with free shipping.
Update: After 10 months of careful use, the small piece of black fabric covering the bud opening has fallen off, but the earphones still sound fantastic. DJing is a hobby of mine and I have owned, at one time or another, the Pioneer HDJ-1000, Dr. Dre Solo Beats, and my current headphones, the Allen & Heath XD-53. Bringing along and using full size headphones on a packed train or plane can sometimes be cumbersome, so these earphones are perfect for my travels. With regard to sound quality, it is of course illogical to compare $179 headphones with [...] earphones, but somehow, I feel confident enough to bring these earphones as my backup in case my headphones break down in the middle of a set. I definitely cannot say the same about the earphones that came with my ipod. As another reviewer said, these earphones are the ultimate example of "bang for the buck"....

I was so displeased with these earphones I had to write my 1st review and share a few of my own insights.
Normally when I purchase from Amazon, I take the time to research prices and reviews and eventually make a decision as to the best bang for the buck. After reading mostly 5 star reviews of getting great sound for the price of these earphones, I was disappointed.
If you are assuming deep or full bass from the "super bass" description, it was more like very high treble, and little bass to no bass. No, I wasn't expecting Bose or expensive brand quality to shoot out of these just too much treble, almost static sounding. Keep your original ipod or shell out a little more cash for something better....
