This review is from: Creative MZ0365 EP-830 Noise Isolating Earphones

I owned the Creative EP-630 ear buds for a year until I stretched and broke the wires. I replaced them with the Creative EP-830 ear buds. This is my comparison:

The overall sound quality of the EP-630 is slightly better than the EP-830. The EP-630 produces crisper highs and cleaner mids; however, the EP-830 is much stronger on the low-end. I adjusted my EQ to filter the 80 Hz and 250 Hz bands, but the EP-830 still sounded a hair muddy.

The rubber grommets and wires on the EP-830 are more substantial and should resist normal usage much better than the EP-630. However, The EP-830 do sport a heavier ear bud, which is less comfortable and, with gravity, tend to come loose when during activity (gym). This issue is paramount because breaking the seal in the ear canal greatly diminishes the sound quality. I find myself constantly pushing in the EP-830 buds. I never had this problem with the EP-630. They were light and remained sealed and in-place during my entire workout.

The aesthetics of the EP-830 are definitely cooler. They utilize a vented driver and top off the look with silver detail. The EP-630 are very generic looking.

Overall, the EP-630 and EP-830 ear buds are awesome at their price points of $30 and $50, respectively. If you're not too active, have bigger ear canals (i.e. can use the larger silicone seals), and enjoy deeper base, the EP-830 are right for you. Otherwise, the EP-630 are a better value....

This review is from: Creative MZ0365 EP-830 Noise Isolating Earphones

I got these with the Creative X-Fi, which I returned for the Apple iPod Touch. I liked the sound so much I bought these immediately to replace my JVC noise-cancelling headphones and my Sensenhauser in-ear phones. I tred several different brands and types of earphones, and I was surprised how well these guys block out plane noise. Almost as good as the JVC noice cancelling headset!! Since the JVC's are much bulkier and all that, I'm selling them and just using these Creatives. BTW: I also tried the Creative Aruvana's - and though they were twice the price, I preferred these EP-830's. Comfortable, great quality sound, and really well made. Thicker rubber type cables, too. Love 'em....

This review is from: Creative MZ0365 EP-830 Noise Isolating Earphones

Firstly, what kind of total loser sits down to write reviews on amazon.com? Me, I guess.

I love good quality earphones, and really hate paying for them. But the entire audio market is priced towards young adults with no mortgage to pay and too much cash to blow. This set, however, is an exception. In my completely authoratative and pompous opinion, it competes well with headphones triple the price. It does, I believe, sound appreciably better than the Creative EP-630 In-Ear Headphones. I've owned the Sennheiser CX 500-B In-Ear Headphone (Black). They're good, no doubt. You won't go wrong with them. But these have a more broad range than the Sennheisers.

FYI, if you're looking for an on-ear phone, don't mind looking like a total fool, and dig that not-yet-in retro 80's look, look at the Koss PortaPro Headphones with Case. Totally awesome. There's a reason why those same headphones are in production after all these years. How many electronics products can claim that?...

Silicone ear tips provide comfortable, stable fit and impressive sound isolation, Superior Comfort

Noise Reduction, Great sound quality and bass response

Universal accessory for all iPod models as well as all digital audio players compatible with 35 mm

elago E3 In-Ear Earphones, Ergonomically designed to fit just outside the ear canal, E3 earphones provide a comfortable fit for houre of listening enjoyment.

This review is from: elago E3 In-Ear Noise-Reducing Earphones with Superior Comfort (Compatible iPhone 4, 1G/3GS)

I was attracted to these headphones because they were on special. I've been through a bunch of ear bud style headphones and I have to say these are the best under $20.00 ones I've purchased so far. (probably better than some of the $40-50 ones I have). Mind you I've only had them for less than a week but the sound quality is great... deep bass, treble doesn't break up when volume is set high. As for the durability, jury is still out.

I would add another great feature of this product is the earbuds fit snug so it never feels like it will fall out. It kinda "hooks" into the little curve on the bottom of your ear. It's hard to describe but it works well.

12/14/2011 Update

It's been a few months and I've had no problems with this product. IMO I think these were made well. They seem pretty solid. I can see how others may not like them because if it doesn't fit the shape of your ears, they probably won't stay in place very well, but I really like the design and they work well for me.

05/27/2011 Update

Okay, still likem except the wires are a little stiff; plastic wire coating is a bit harder than others. They don't quite "hang" off the ears like other earbud headphones with softer rubbery cables. Why does this matter you ask? If you get any upward push on the cables it can loosen them from the ears....

This review is from: elago E3 In-Ear Noise-Reducing Earphones with Superior Comfort (Compatible iPhone 4, 1G/3GS)

After my top of the line Sure e-350s broke I was in need of some new headphones. Sure was willing to replace the broken ones for $250 but, that is half of what thy cost so I was not at all willing to put $700 in headphones that will break again. After I got these in the mail, I put them on and my first impression was not good. I thought the bass was to much and that the highs where drowned out by it. God was I wrong. After turring the Bass Boster EQ on my iPod off, i played the same song again. My God did it sound good.

To compare them put my Bose sound canceling headphones on and turned the volume up. Yea, they sounded good and they are $200. These are 20 and they sound amazing!...

This review is from: elago E3 In-Ear Noise-Reducing Earphones with Superior Comfort (Compatible iPhone 4, 1G/3GS)

I was searching for a good pair of headphones that would not empty my wallet... And I found them! These headphones have an awesome stylish design and fit snuggly in my ears. Elago have really outdone themselves this time..... Such great quality at a low price!...

900 MHz Analog RF wireless headphone

This review is from: Sony MDR-RF925RK 900 MHz Analog RF Wireless Headphone

I can't believe that I haven't found reviews for this product! I got a system so my wife could listen to the TV while watching in bed and not have the sound disturb others. I got this one because -1- it is RF as opposed to infrared so if she goes into another room she can still hear the sound, -2- has "drop-in" inductive charging of the rechargeable batteries as opposed to teeny-tiny contacts, -3- is from a well-known manufacturer as opposed to some off-brand, -4- it had switch-able frequencies to diminish the chance of interference with other 900MHz devices (I had to look at Sony's website for that), -5- the price is reasonable because of the quality reputation of Sony, and -6- it was available from [...] as opposed to some fly-by night company.

I was very pleased to find that it had arrived with the right cable (mini stereo to RCA L&R plugs) AND it works with devices that have RCA jacks OR mini stereo jacks because the transmitter has both types! We are fortunate that the TV has a headphone jack (unusual for the size of the tube) and it cuts off the TV speaker.

The sound in the headphones is amazing - so much better than sound from the speakers in any of the TVs in the house. I may get some of these instead of a surround-sound system for the family room....

This review is from: Sony MDR-RF925RK 900 MHz Analog RF Wireless Headphone

These Sony headphones are my fourth try with wireless headphones, and these Sonys are the best so far. My first wireless headphones were IR based (infrared), which left me totally underwhelmed in terms of sound quality and line-of-sight range. My next phones were Sony's older 900Mhz RF model, which I used regularly for at least three years until last week. These new RF925RK headsets are like awesome compared to the older Sony set. There is little or no background noise (dead quiet), and the ear pads are larger so they completely cover the ears. In fact, the inner ear pads are ergonomically profiled to fit over the ear (asymmetrical - left and right are different). The new Sony uses an induction charging base, which sure beats the heck out of the previous method of lining up those tiny contact pins -- always a hassle. Sound fidelity is not my principal concern, as I am not an audiophile, but clarity and richness is appreciated. These Sony phones sound terrific! Oh, one other thing. I can't stress enough how important it is that Sony wireless Rf phones turn themselves off automatically when you removed them from your head. Also, the Sony rechargable AAA batteries can be replaced with regular Alkaline AAAs in a in case you forget to charge-up these phones....

This review is from: Sony MDR-RF925RK 900 MHz Analog RF Wireless Headphone

My Background: University degreed in electonics

(1) Problems:

Excessive popping sounds. Many reasons and theories on the Internet about popping sounds in wireless headphones. After a great deal of trouble shooting, I found that the power on/off switch in the headband was the culprit. The switch and assembly are as designed and manufactured properly HOWEVER, the switch is 'cheap' and momentary, i.e., when a small plunger in the switch is depressed the power goes on; off when the plunger is released. The switch is activated when the headset is put on causing a small slide to depress the plunger when the headband is set onto the head. Yes I did take it apart. I replaced the switch with an external manual operated on/off switch and the popping is gone. The problem is two-fold the provided switch is 'cheap' and the whole headset mechanism must have been designed and tested by a people with large heads full of hair. I wear hat size 7 1/4 and am bald. When the headset is positioned over my ears, the provided momentaty switch barely closes and any motion on my part causes it to turn off/on and pop. REALLY BAD DESIGN.

(2) A tingling shock whenever I picked up the base unit. Plastic case and pretty much DC so why a tingling shock? Yes I took it apart. I found that the component pigtails of the printed wiring board contacted the outer case and that the grounds associated with the RCA jacks connecting the base unit to the TV set were also touching the case. The plastic case is an insulator but is quite prone to electrostatic build up which in turn acts as a conductor between the TV set and itself. Trimming all of the 'long' pigtails solved the shocking problem. Really BAD MANUFACTURE.

I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THIS PRODUCT....

ClearChat PC Wireless Headset

This review is from: LOG981000068 - ClearChat PC Wireless Headset

This is a great headset when it works. The sound quality is good and the battery is long enough. When I run out of battery in the middle of a call, I can just plug it into the charger while still on the call, letting it charge up and warm up the side of my head in the process. I use it for about 8 hours a day and usually plug it into the charger during my lunch break so that I rarely run out of battery.

The problem is that this headset is constantly breaking. I've gone through 4 of them now and just today it started with its issues again, so it looks like I'm going to be on #5 soon. Its main problem is the short in the charger port. It will quickly develop a problem where the charging light won't light up and it won't charge. You'll have to fix this by adjusting the wire into different positions until it comes on, then don't touch it or it'll turn back off.

Three of my headsets have developed issues with the sound cutting out of the left headphone, sometimes constantly turning off/on while in the middle of a Skype conversation and sometimes constantly shifting from left to right. That's what my latest one just started doing again today. And then two of them that I've owned have just completely stopped working. No sound and no power light. Just dead for no reason.

I keep using this model because there aren't really any other wireless headsets in the store that I like. I use it for work-related phone calls, 8 hours a day and it's great when it works. Whenever my headset dies, I purchase a new one from the store, then return the old one for a refund. Yes, I'm breaking the rules, but that's what they get for selling me a faulty headset. I've returned 3 of them now and will be returning another one soon. I really like this headset, but it's annoying having to return it every 4 - 6 months. If you're looking for a trouble-free headset, this isn't the one for you....

This review is from: LOG981000068 - ClearChat PC Wireless Headset

I really enjoy this Logitech headset. It works like Logitech said that it would. I followed directions, charged the batteries and then used the headset during an online meeting. The sound when using the headset is excellent. I like the ability to get up and move around when necessary. When not moving around I can leave the headset plugged in so that the batteries stay charged. The controls are very easy to use especially the ability to mute the microphone and the headset is comfortable. I have recommended it on several occasions....

This review is from: LOG981000068 - ClearChat PC Wireless Headset

I purchased this item to do voice overs for portions of a technical video I am doing for one of our company products. I was very disappointed in the performance. I could never get the volume high enough when I attempted to record and had to purchase a headset with a USB hardwire connection as a substitute. If you want to use this product as a tool to chat, it may be fine, I don't know, but if you purchase this product for any voice recording application, do it at your own risk!...

Philips HN050 Noise Canceling Lightweight Headphones with Neckband

Behind-the-head headphones with noise-canceling feature for superior listening

Permits undisturbed audio in busy or loud places

Lightweight neckband wraps around head for comfortable fit

Handy in-cord control for managing noise-canceling option

24k gold-plated plug; 4-foot cord

Philips Noise Canceling Lightweight Neckband that allows for optimal listenind in a noisy enviroment. Light weight Neckband design for maximum comfort

This review is from: Philips HN050 Noise Canceling Lightweight Headphones with Neckband

I bought these off ebay on a whim (they were dirt cheap there), but after I got them, I realized why they were so cheap.

Pros:

* Decent noise cancellation - the background noise is noticably reduced, and the music seems noticably louder

* Reasonable batter life - I've had a AAA cell in there for more than 10 hours, and the battery is still doing fine.

Cons:

* Very noticable "white noise" - a hissing sound when noise cancellation is turned on. This is not noticable when playing music, but quite noticable when in pure noise-cancelling mode.

* Bad design - not foldable for storage

* Bad design for use on airplanes, since the band goes behind the head (around the neck) - makes the headsets ununable if you've got a pillow under your neck, or are planning to use them lying down anywhere

* The headsets don't work without the battery - even if noise cancellation is switched off

* The on-off switch is quite hard to operate - often takes a minute of struggling to turn off or on - due to it being a sliding switch with hardly any grip available to push it either way.

* Ears start aching due to the pressure on them within a couple of minutes.

* The cord is really short in real terms - at least 2' more would have been useful.

Bottom line - they're OK if you got them for a couple of $s (like I did off ebay), but no way are they worth $37 or more that they actually cost....

This review is from: Philips HN050 Noise Canceling Lightweight Headphones with Neckband

There isn't any way to adjust the neckband for better comfort. They will definitely slide off your ear if you put the back of your head against anything. There also isn't a means of adjusting the earpieces to fit them better to your ears. I am not real happy with the amount of buzzing/white noise in the background when I have them on. The noise gets even louder when you turn on the noise cancelling feature. The cord is also very short (3'9") which has caused problems for me when I use them. It would also be better if the noise cancelling unit was higher up on the cord. Its about exactly half way between the earphones and the jack. There is a clip on it but I can't seem to find much use for it. It does reduce noise a little but I don't think it does that good of a job for the price. I'd definitely suggest getting a better fitting pair of earphones....

This review is from: Philips HN050 Noise Canceling Lightweight Headphones with Neckband

The sound quality is pretty good -- about the same a earbuds that cost half as much.

The headband comfort is not bad, but takes a little getting use to.

The ear phones move off of your ear if rest your head on the back of a chair (or airplane seat).

If you are looking for noise cancelation you will be very disappointed. There is some but not much....
