I have used quite a few headphones in my life, ranging from $10-$150, name and no-name brands. I wear them almost constantly and replace them so often for that very reason. As far as brands go, Sony and Skullcandy are definitely the most consistent high-performers in premium headphones. And these earphones are no exception. I'll admit, the unusual bud design and their noticeable weight (coming from a very light pair of Sony MDR-EX75's, one of my absolute favorites, btw) gave me a slight pause when I first received them. But once I found the right size of earbud and started up my music library, I was sold. Some people may still not like the heaviness, no matter the sound quality, but I don't mind. In fact, I find that they stay in the ear and around the neck better when the buds are heavier than the cord...- The sound is second to none, for the price. (They really should be $100 earphones)
- Bass and Treble are both amazing. You are usually lucky to find an earphone that excels in one or the other, but these excel in both)
- I love the longer right-ear cord. It's such a simple idea and yet so practical, particularly when exercising, in my opinion.
- The unorthodox shape truly is a marvel when it comes to keeping the in-ear headphones inside your ear. They felt slightly uncomfortable at first, but after about 30 mins, they felt fine.
- The cord wrapper is nice and low-profile, which I like.
- Super high-quality build. They feel very substantial. In fact, If I swung them against a wall, I bet I'd cause more damage to the wall than the earphones.
- Sound isolation is THE BEST I've ever seen (or heard) out of earphones this size, even without the noise-isolating buds (which I find to be a little too firm for my ears).
- NO SOUND LEAK! Probably the best aspect of these earphones is that the sound leak threshold is incredibly high. I tested them out at the office and asked the guy next to me if he could hear any sound while I turned up the volume on my computer (headphones in my ear). The volume I had when he finally heard something was so high I would probably never have reached it normally. Phenomenal! The office was pretty quite, btw, so no ambient sound to distract his ears.All-in-all, an amazing product. I would recommend it to anyone that is willing to spend more than $30 on a pair of buds (if you're going to spend 30, I recommend just doubling it and buying these). One thing you may want to consider though, is that these earphones are not terribly low-profile. They don't quite fit comfortably in your ear when the side of your head is pressed up against a pillow, cushion, or something (while lying down on your side, for example)...just thought I'd mention that.5-Stars all-the-way.UPDATE: Had these earphones for about a month-and-a-half now and I am still just as impressed as the day I purchased them. Other than that, nothing new to report. :)...

I really like `em ! The build feels pretty sturdy and good quality. I burned them in for a little over 30 hours. The soundstage is noticeably bigger and better than my Yamaha EPH-20 (Yamaha is better than stock zune and my wife's ipod earbuds). The low end is good and true for the music genre. The highs are not shrill, cymbals sound true. I can hear the tip of drumsticks hitting the cymbals in some songs. High-hat sounds true too. I heard some whispering on a song that I never heard that on in the past. I normally use the ex310s on my Zune 30 and the sound is very good. Whenever I plug them into my desktop computer the sound is awesome ! On the earbud tips: it took me a while to find one of the 7 included that I like. I'm using the small ones with the foam inside. An over-all size comparison: these (ex310's) are noticeably bigger than my Yamah EPH-20, that's ok with me, just an additional point for curiosity sake. Also, I've noticed that the cord resists tangling. I ended up buying these direct from Sony. I looked on Amazon first (I always do), back then I looked at the MDR-EX300 (approx. $[...]). I phoned Sony Sales to ask them a few questions. They wanted to match the ex300 price. They didn't have that model in stock so they sold me the newest version (these) for $[..] ! plus free shipping and 50% off a 2 year svc plan....

Right out of the box I love them! I've owned everything from $100+ Shures (cable casing cracked, died) to $20 Sennheisers (one ear died, randomly), and these are by far the most comfortable I've put in my ears, and I haven't even gone through the 4 other sized silicone adapters (no disgusting foam earwax traps). The design of the buds themselves lock into my ear, and quite comfortably so, these things aren't going anywhere. Put them in cable down and the rounded back sits perfectly in your ear, wrap them over and around your ear and they wedge in your outer lobe. Every other in-ear bud I've owned has relied on how far you cram the thing in your canal to stay in, which is both scary and initially uncomfortable. I mostly use buds at the gym and for running, and in the past have been aggravated at how often every other bud I've owned will work it's way out of my ear, letting whatever pop crap song of the week they have blasting to enter my ear drums. Not these babies. It's just pure, insulated bliss.
I'm not going to pretend I'm an "audiophile", you're probably not either. I've listened to some nice buds and some crap buds, and I'm quite impressed with the sound quality. Like a lot of sony phones, they're a little bass heavy (or perhaps too many other buds are just far too lacking). It's not overpowering, by any means, and I welcome it. And for the price, these things are frickin fantastic. I pretty much expect every earbud I own to eventually die on me and get replaced, and I can't speak to the longevity of these, but if they do go down in a crackly flame years from now, I could very much see myself buying them again....
