This review is from: Skullcandy (Product Out Of Date, Newer Version Available) SCS-SCBC Skullcrushers Stereo Headphones (Black / Checker)

These headphones a great if you crave bass. These headphones are awesome for watching movies when you don't want to bother anyone else. When you put them on you'll notice they do a considerably good job with noise cancelling and when you watch a movie or play a game they make you feel like you have a home theater system on your head. As for music they are best for hip hop/rap, electro, and any music with heavy bass below 50Hz.Although they are not so good for rock, heavy metal or any other type of rock because there is a gap in the frequency response of the main driver and the sub woofer where most of the bass in rock music is. I was disappointed by that. When I first saw these I was instantly in love with them and I didn't bother to read about them or let the reviews change my point of view, and if your like me this is probably the case. If you are gonna get them you'll have the mess with the equalizer of your audio source to make them sound how you want them to. They seem like a really cool thing, o look these have sub woofers in them how awesome is that. But keep in mind they are "vibrating" sub woofers and do NOT perform like a normal sub woofer and like I said lack bass in the 50Hz to 200Hz region. That's about where a lot of a bass guitars sound and where most of your vibration occurs. So if you do get these don't expect then to be act like miniature sub woofers cause they are meant to shake more than they are to reproduce sound. And also they headband is not exactly as what is pictured, it has a soft foam piece where the top of your head meets the headband, the new headband is more comfortable than what is pictured and is very strong and astonishingly light for it's size. These are a great set of headphones. They are very good at keeping outside noise out and youe noise in. Therefore you can be blasting these suckers and the person beside you will hardly even notice. The SQ is great and easily compares to some of the more recognized headphones companies such as Sennheiser which retail for around $100 - $150. Overall they are one of the best headphones you can ge for the price even if you aren't looking for the sub woofer, they offer superior noise canceling abilities, great SQ , are very light, and have a sub woofer in them. There isn't much more more you can ask for for $40-$50. If you don't mind the small region of bass between 50-200Hz that isn't as strong as with a conventional set of headphones then I would highly recommend these. And if you are worried about what I said then you should go and heck out Evergreen Technologies RumbleFX Force Feedback headphones, they are the best you can get with subwoofers in them, very loud, 40mm drivers, and light, although they don't offer as much noise canceling as the SkullCrushers do, if you do want to get a pair a the EverGreen Technologies you'll have to look around hard because rumor has it they are stopping production on the universal pair but if you don't need the universal pair just grab the AudioFX version with an USB connection instead. They are definitely worth it. Or if you prefer something smaller try the in ear Pelican Earsubs, only $20-$30 and have basically all the characteristics of the skullCrushers in a earbud form. There are also a new set of earbuds coming out soon caled the bass freguency V-Moda earbuds....

This review is from: Skullcandy (Product Out Of Date, Newer Version Available) SCS-SCBC Skullcrushers Stereo Headphones (Black / Checker)

I am an eighteen year old at highschool and got these headphones yesterday at Circuit City for $75.00 (w/ tax etc) I listen primarily to techno music but throw in everything else from Cream, to some Broadway songs, to Old School rap, the headphones will deal with most anything with pretty good sound. The bass is something incredible, you can't really understand what it produces until you try them out properly, it is amazing, they can get very low frequency, and very low notes and give a very powerful vibration which really does sound like a high end subwoofer system in a car or home theater. The bass adjuster is useful and you will most likely want to adjust it between songs, obviously this is easy, if you listen to the same genre constantly you can find a perfect setting, or just put it at 100 percent to show what they can do! The first night I got these I listened to the album "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse, and they couldn't have delivered better sound for the album. Now I give you easy pros and cons

cons

-fairly tight fit (good for blocking out ambient noise, but you can't wear them round your neck comfortably)

-Folding (This is very usful for travel however if you are wearing them about and take them off repeatedly it can get annoying)

-Leather pads (these are very comfortable and manage to block out sound, however after awhile they can get pretty hot)

pros

-Bass adjuster (tune perfectly for different songs)

-Cord (perfect length, its not too long, but not too short)

-Obviously: The Bass! (if you listen to bass heavy music you won't find better headphones for the price)

-Stylish design ( I often wear a suit, or a sport coat, so the pinstripes on the side look good with it)

-Accesories (allow you to hook them up to anything)

-Lightweight (won't feel unnatural and heavy on your head

These phones are certainly worth buying if you listen to bass heavy music, the bad reviews must be coming from those who are either not adjusting them, or listen to music that doesn't capitalize on the bass qualities. I also own the Bose In-Ear earphones, and the Bose on-ear quiet comforts, these can compare, I use the on-ears for the noise cancelling, the in-ears for running and light-weight traveling, now I have the Skullcandys for techno and rap. So now its your choice...

This review is from: Skullcandy (Product Out Of Date, Newer Version Available) SCS-SCBC Skullcrushers Stereo Headphones (Black / Checker)

Let me start off this review by saying the Skullcrushers are honestly the best pair of headphones I've ever owned, even when compared to other headphones that cost over twice as much...

My last pair of headphones got destroyed, and I was looking for an affordable replacement that was circumaural (over-the-ear), offered strong bass, had a cool design, and ideally, sound-canceling. While these headphones don't offer active sound-canceling, most outside noises get noticeably reduced, especially when you're busy enjoying the incredible bass performance!

I spent a lot of time researching different headphone models before getting these, and read mixed reviews. I've come to realize, however, a ...

This review is from: Dual Ear Call Center Headset for Cisco Unified IP Phone

I was very pleased with the sound quality of this headset, at least initially. Unfortunately, that became irrelevant after the set fell apart after only 3 or 4 uses. The plastic where the ear-cups attach to the band that goes over your head (whatever you call that thing) broke on both sides simultaneously leaving me with ear-cups dangling on thin wires below my shoulders like a couple of extra-ugly earrings. For the price (about 70 scoots) one would expect the thing to last for years....

Sennheiser HD203 DJ-Style Closed Lightweight Headphones

Sennheiser HD203 DJ-Style Closed Lightweight Headphones

Sennheiser HD203 DJ-Style Closed Lightweight Headphones

This review is from: Sennheiser HD203 DJ-Style Closed Lightweight Headphones

Ive listened to these for a week already and tested these with various genres of music, including Rap, 80's Rock, Rock, Trance, House, Electro, Hardstyle, and Jazz. For reference purposes Ive hooked them up into my laptop with and without a 10 dollar portable amp purchased from Amazon. I also tried these on my Palm Pre Phone.

Basically on all these sources these headphones reached very good volume levels with and without a portable headphone amp. Of course these sound better with a headphone amp because youll reach much louder volume levels, but with these headphones an amp is simply an option and not a necessity(thank goodness).

Ive tried the bass capablities of these headphones with songs such as Snoop Dogg- Gangsta Luv, David Banner- Like a Pimp, Justice- Phantom, Moby- Thousand, and Les Petits Pilous- Wake Up. The Bass is truly amazing because it sounds clear, deep, and handles any bass thrown at it very well. The bass also never distorted on me even with the Amp connected and at full volume. The bass capabilities of these remind me of the Eh-150's performance except these are slightly stronger. Of course these do not thump like a subwoofer is inside but instead thumps good enough that its mighty impressive and is a good balance between the lows and highs.

The highs/Vocals of these are awesome as well. With these you may even hear things that you may have never heard in your songs.

These headphones sound quality are rich, deep, and satisfying. They are light and easily adjustable. The cord is a standard flat and long headphone cable with the connector being made up of regular sliver like metal so don't expect gold.

These headphones fit snugly much like the EH-150's and the HD 202's. You'll also need to give your ears a break for a minute usually every hour. But these do not fit so tight that it becomes unbearable though. But the advantage of this snug fit is that it effectively isolates outdoor sounds, which is very convenient if you are just trying to listen to your music and not be distracted by others loud conversations. Also unless you are BLASTING these they pretty much do not leak much sound, so you wont annoy the people around you either.

Simply put these continued to sound very good whether it was Miles Davis, Benny Goodman, Justice, Snoop Dogg, The Cure, Lady Gaga, and everything else in between.

Finally if you were looking between the Sennheiser HD202's, Sennheiser Eh-150s, or these Sennheiser HD203's. I would recommend these ones. Simply because the overall these sound clearer than the Sennheiser HD202's and these have a slightly better amount of bass than the EH-150's(hey every little counts). In my opinion this is a perfect mixture of two top rated headphones which results in one heck of a great new headphone product. I would definitely recommend these to friends and family, believe me Ive purchased both the 202's and 150's and I wouldn't think of going back to either of them....

This review is from: Sennheiser HD203 DJ-Style Closed Lightweight Headphones

First off, I just want to say what the design flaw is. There isn't enough space between the ear and the front of the speakers. What happens is that the ear makes contact with the front of the speaker, and after a few hours this can become a bit painful...however, it's a small price to pay for the sound.

Also, I got these at best buy...here are my impressions:

I was very reluctant to get them at first. Initially I was looking to see if I could quickly pick up a pair of the acclaimed SennheiserPX models. They didn't carry those. I mostly was reluctant to get the 203s simply because they are identical in appearance to the EH150s, which I already own (which aren't bad either). However, on impulse, I bought them, assuming they had to have at least a different driver type, just utilizing the same design.

Well, I've put in several hours of listening on them now, and I think I was right. I am pleased to say that while they share sound signature similarities with the EH150s, they are not the same pair of drivers. They sound too different to me to be the same.

The comfort is a bit better than the 150s, only because the ear pads on the 203s are a bit thicker and more rounded. But it's just enough extra distance between the outer ear and the speakers to make an appreciable difference. Otherwise, they are exactly the same. That said, while I can wear them a bit longer than the EH150s without feeling bothered, I still think this should be addressed.

The build quality, while all plastic, is sturdy and rugged. They can stand up to abuse pretty well. I'm not particularly careful with my stuff, and the 150s have stood by me for a couple of years through running and long trips.

Now for the sound. They have the characteristically dark Sennheiser sound. Where they differ from the 150s, (and the HD 205s as well) is that they don't have nearly as thick a veil over the sound. On those models, it has always seemed to me that the sound was hiding behind a thick coloring. I have never liked that. It's not too bad on the EH 150s, but it's noticeable. I barely notice any sort of sound coloration with the HD 203s. These headphones are actually very balanced from what I can tell. The Bass is very present, but it doesn't seem to take over other ranges. I can hear the details fine. The mids are actually quite extended and forward. This is especially noticeable with Metal or hard rock; the rhythm guitars in GnR (Guns n Roses) stand out incredibly well where with a lot of other headphones, they take a back seat to the lead guitar, bass, and vocals.

As I said, the sound is dark. However, it's also incredibly rich sounding. Not overly thick or colored, but everything just has a really nice, rich and colorful tone without sacrificing clarity or accuracy. The sound is crystal clear. The highs...well, they are there. They sound very neutral. But still clear. The place where the richness of sound stands out the most is in Jazz, with regards to the bass and drums. I was listening to an album called "a duke ellington songbook", an album where the duke's classics get modern facelifts. The sound was astonishing. I could hear just about every movement of the acoustic guitarists hands over the frets, every minute detail on the bass (timbre and the sounds of string muting), and the drums had a lot of depth without being grating to the ears (they could get quite loud!). On some of the recordings I could even hear notes of on the piano that were some sort of recording artifact where the notes that were about to sound were playing very, very quietly right before they sounded. I had never noticed that before.

They work well for any type of music. I listened to Beethoven's 6th symphony, and ...

Able Planet NC300BCC Noise Canceling Headphones

These headphones are also lightweight and comfortable so they won’t weigh your head down or irritate your ears. They also feature in-line volume control so you can easily adjust the sound level to your preference. The Able Planet NC300BCC Active Noise Canceling Headphones use a standard 3.5mm audio plug to connect to countless devices so you can use them to enjoy whatever you want!

This review is from: Able Planet NC300BCC Noise Canceling Headphones

They sound good, have great bass, and when I'm on the lawnmower and flip the "ON" switch, the mower noise disappears as if I had turned the mower off, not completely, but enough to make the music the major sound with the motor noise in the deep background....

This review is from: Able Planet NC300BCC Noise Canceling Headphones

For months and months I had been reading reviews from Amazon customers about the noise-cancelling earphones from this manufacturer. About how great they were, and how about how such high quality could come from relatively economical noise-cancelling headphones, so much so, that they could stand up to the likes of Bose, Sony, Monster(maker of the 'Beats by Dr. Dre' line of headphones), and the like. So naturally I looked for the most affordable over-ears Able Planet made. Yes, they fit great, are relatively comfortable, and are of great fit and finish, unlike the last pair of noise cancellers I owned.

But unfortunately, while they fit great, the noise cancelling on the pair i received was below terrible. All i got was a throbbing hiss. On the left side. Which felt like a jackhammer to my eardrum. I'm hoping this is this is the exception to the norm. Just some rare and random manufacturer defect. I'm sending these back to the manufacturer in hopes of maybe getting them repaired or replaced. I'll check back in.

Until then............

This review is from: Able Planet NC300BCC Noise Canceling Headphones

Every thing about the headphones are great with two exceptions.

1. They are not to comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

2. The noise cancelling has white noise and simply makes music even louder,

but it also makes the sound quality better though.

Everything else is good though.

The sound quality is amazing which is why I bought them....

RS-110 headphones, two AAA batteries, user's manual.

This review is from: Sennheiser RS110 Over-Ear 926 Mhz Wireless Rf Headphones

I bought my SENNHEISER RS 110 from Bestbuy for $79.99. It was all worth it for the price. This headphone is simply amazing! I tried both Sony and RCA models before settling for a SENNHEISER and both Sony and RCA doesnt even come close to the performance of the RS 110. The sound reproduction is very distinct, no "very highs" or "very lows" on the frequency range. Just right. The range is just about right for the indicated 300 feet. It is light enough to be worn for extended periods of time and the fit is very comfortable. You dont feel that "tightness" even after wearing it for several hours. In my point of view, the sound reproduction even comes close to the BOSE noise cancelling headphones except that the SENNHEISER doesnt cancel the noise. An upgraded model, the RS 120, can be recharged by placing the headset on the transmitter--this (the recharging feature) however is the only difference. Performance is solid both ways. After making extensive evaluation on my RS 110, the only feature I could think they can add to this model is a light indicator on the main headphone unit to "visually" see if it is turned on without actually looking at the power switch. Overall, the headphone is an excellent buy compared to other models in the same price range. I highly recommend this entry level wireless headphone from SENNHEISER if you're in the market looking for one....

This review is from: Sennheiser RS110 Over-Ear 926 Mhz Wireless Rf Headphones

These are some pretty decent RF headphones. Very little hiss in the background, great range - the only thing I don't like is the auto on/off feature. For those who don't know what this is, the transmitter on the base doesn't start transmitting unless it "hears" enough sound for it to go. When the sound source is turned off and it doesn't "hear" anything anymore, it stops transmitting after a few minutes and you hear static in the headphones. It's basically a good idea, but not practical if/when working with different types of audio sources.

This feature can be difficult if (in my case) you are working with the headphones on a computer, where sounds come and go at different intervals (IM noises, prompts, pausing a DVD, etc.). I also use the headphones with a 15" television (no cable) that has headphone port for private viewing. While watching the TV with the headphones (the included L/R-1/16 adapter is very nice) the headphone transition cuts out every 5 minutes for a few seconds then starts again. This is probably because of the low audio strength coming from the cable-less TV, but it's just another reason why there should be a manual ON/OFF TRANSMIT switch on the base unit.

The only other drawback is that, unlike many other headphone types, Sennheiser has chosen to make very flat ear pieces. Most other headphones have the "can" type, which have a thick outer rim, allowing your ears to be closer to their natural position. With these Sennheisers my ears are frequently squished against my head, sometimes for many hours - which anyone will tell you has its own definition of pain. I'll point out that the pain only happens when I wear glasses and have the headphones on for a long time. If I have contacts in (which is mostly the case) or place the legs of the glasses above my ears, it rarely hurts to have the headphones on for the same time.

All in all, pretty good wireless headphones for consistent audio listeners, and people without glasses....

This review is from: Sennheiser RS110 Over-Ear 926 Mhz Wireless Rf Headphones

A sound engineer's perspective...

Great Sennheiser quality - strikingly similar to some of their wired models (HD202, ect). What I expected. People say don't even bother with other brands. For the great prices Sennheiser offers, I know I don't.

Works in a large house or large condo. Static (as with all wireless headphones) occurs under 4 feet. Some people don't understand that this is natural. I've been probably 50' to 100' away from the base and have had no dropouts. Static occurs over 20' but is sparse and only in certain 'spots' - usally about two square feet. The solution - avoid those 'spots' or mess with the tuning knob.

PROS:

Fairly flat frequency response - VERY nice mids and highs

Close in quality to many mid-range wired models

Almost flawless reception when in the same room

Comfortable, open-aire design - not too tight, not too loose

CONS:

Big (but so are all wireless phones)

Silver accent color (makes them look even bigger)

No rechargeable batteries

May slip off of smaller heads when bending over (mine is big though)

Lacks a bit of bass because of the open-aire design (makes it perfect for TV but leaves a tad to be desired for music)

IMPORTANT:

Your TV has RCA OUTputs

Your volume has to be UP on the TV a little for these to work - how to circumvent this? Run your cable through a VCR and take the base station out of the RCA outputs of your VCR - now you can mute the TV, but your phones will still work through your VCR volume.

The verdict? Hard to beat for the price. Wireless headphones are not perfect, but these are about as good as you can get. Want rechargeables? Upgrade to the Sennheiser RS-120s - the same electronics, but you pay $30 more for rechargeables. Want a closed-aire design? Upgrade to the RS 140s. Want something that is open-aire and rechargeable but a bit more 'stylish' - ie. all black and less 'grandpa grey' - get the HS 130s.

I understand that the 130s and 140s have 'automatic' tuning. I would think however this could be a blessing and also a curse. Also, for those who have hearing loss in one ear - the 140s have adjustable...

HP Wireless Stereo Headphone AR084AA Headphones & Earphones

This review is from: HP Bluetooth Stereo Headphones

As an hp employee who's been looking for more features than the world-renowned Bose headphones provides, I was thrilled when I discovered that HP not only made noise-canceling headphones, but that they had all the other features I wanted in such a device.

Granted, it costs a fraction of what the Bose headphones cost, and you get what you pay for...but if you're counting on customer service when the cheap plastic breaks, you get even less.

After only two months of use, the black plastic band that fits over your head started cracking, making the device not only impossibly uncomfortable (instead of a semicircle over your head, think of a sharp 'M' shaped piece of jagged plastic stabbing your scalp), but threatening to break completely with more use thereby becoming completely unusable.

Of course they claim it's not under warranty and, well, what are you going to do? Buy another one, they suggested, after 5 hours on the phone with a support agent somewhere in New Delhi who can't understand me. Yeah Right.

Anyhow, a terrible disappointment that my own company makes such a shoddy and cheap product. Even worse because it has so much potential in its market....

I bought these for use with my laptop and cell phone. I was hoping I could use these to stream music while working and be able to take/make calls. It does come with a 3.5mm audio streamer, which is nice, but the lack of cell phone support for calls (headset profile) makes these a non-starter for me.

Build quality is good for the price. These are on ear headphones and comfort is above average. Noise cancellation is basic...I'd put it at 50%. Bose is still the best I've tried for noise cancellation, but they only have a wired option today.

I've ordered the Sennheiser MM550's which are supposed to do it all. Noise cancellation, bluetooth stereo, bluetooth calling, wired option for when bluetooth isn't an option and an optional bluetooth audio streamer...only drawback is they are 10x these HPs.

I'd recommend these if all you want is bluetooth stereo and you want to stay under a hundred....

I paid $80 for these headphones. I got them for the wireless ability because I have way to many wires around my computer. After 3 weeks the cheap plastic head band broke in half. Later on I opend up the headphones and discoverd that the way they were designed is outragesly stupid (common sence here!). The wires are all in a clump and also when you ajust the headband you will disturb the wire and after so long (if you manage to keep the band together) the wire is compleatly shreded, wich is hazerdos due to electrical shock. If you are considering these headphones, dont. If you don't really need wireless ability, get Sony instead

Don't get me wrong, the HP's are good but the design is bad.

When I first ordered this product, it didn't work. Not a problem in sending it back and receiving one in the mail. It is ok and an ok way to listen....
