1. the ear cups are kinda small, so i cant really wear these for too long

2. people can hear all the sound from the headphones coming through the mic

3. the worst part is (for the one i got anyway) there is this crazy loud bass sound coming from my mic, so people can barely hear me over it.

I bought a pair of these to use with my Astro Mixamp and I could not be happier. I also use the Mixamp with my PC and an HT Striker sound card and these headphones produce amazing sound for the money. Will more expensive options sound better? Maybe. But these are fantastic already and I would not exchange them for any other set. As for the mic, no one is complaining they can't hear me so I'm guessing that's AOK.

I purchased this economical headset for VOIP business meetings and it works great. I plug in before launching a WebEx meeting, log in to the web conference, and away I go. Folks in meetings say they can hear me great and without any time delay or echo. I really like being able to hear everyone so clearly, too. The only product surpirse was that the picture of the product shows two earpieces, but the unit I have has only one....

I had a pair of Sennheiser HD-201 over-the-ear headphones which I bought a little more than 2 years back. They were not noise-canceling and were not foldable for easy storage. The latter caused them to snap in my travel bag due to the various pressures on it by air travel.

So this time I was out looking for a pair of noise-canceling headphones that would preferably be foldable for easy storage in a carry-on bag. Looked at a couple of way more expensive models (even the Bose ones) but did not feel comfortable shelling out hundreds of $ on a pair of phones that 'may' break again. So took a chance on this set which seemed to be the least expensive set and had both features that I was looking for. Below is a list of pros and cons:

Pros:

1. Foldable for easy storage

2. Noise canceling works great on airplanes. Much better than what I expected. Haven't tried it in other noisy environments, but would think that it should work as good within the frequency range specified in the product details

3. Sound quality as good as what I used to get on the Sennheiser. I can hear background instruments very clearly, which are usually not very discernible on regular ipod earphones or speakers.

4. Battery consumption seems quite reasonable. Uses one AAA battery that is to be inserted in the left ear cup.

5. Is quite comfortable. I don't have a big head, and it doesn't hurt me when used over extended durations.

6. 'Appears' to be a little flimsy due to the foldable parts, but is actually quite sturdy.

Cons:

1. No volume control for those of you who might be looking for this feature.

2. Headphone case could be better. I would have preferred a harder case, than just a plastic/cloth bag. But I just use another harder case to store these headphones when traveling.

3. The ear cups could have been a little bigger to completely cover the ears. Don't cover my ears as much as my Sennheiser used to, but I don't think it compromises the sound quality very much.

4. When the noise canceling feature is on, if you press your finger/hand on the left ear cup (that holds the battery) to adjust the headphone position on your head, it causes some noise distortion. I'm supposing this is because the battery is being pushed closer to the speaker magnets or something like that, but you need to apply a good amount of pressure to get this distortion. Didn't appear to be a big problem for me.

All said and done, I'm extremely happy with the value for money on these headphones. The Boses and Sonys may obviously have some better sound quality, but being a casual music listener, this set is more than enough for my needs....

Not really happy with these noise canceling headphones due to their limited frequency range of active noise cancellation. What I found out after I received these headphones is that the active noise cancelation only works in the 40 to 150 Hz range. The specifications on the box stated this, but the amazon web page specifications do not (as of 10/5/2010). This is probably the reason why many people have been dissapointed by the active noise canceling on these headphones. Basically that 40 to 150 Hz range will work OK for the type of engine noise on an airline, but is pretty much useless for things like a lawnmower, bus, subway, or conversational background noise which all tend to fall in the midrange frequency catagory (well above what these handle). So if you want an inexpensive headphone strictly for airline travel, these will work fairly well, otherwise keep looking....

I bought these so I'd have an alternative to ear buds which I had grown a little tired of, and so that I could have some NC headphones while working or traveling. These seemed like a good deal - and they are, especially now. But don't go in with huge expectations, and if you are impartial to ear buds or phones, get buds over these.

First, the noise-canceling seems to be fairly odd to me. I travel by plane about once every month or two and I've never actually used this feature for the entire flight. I'll turn on the noise-canceling and while the engine roar seems to decrease, the music also becomes almost inaudible. So in many cases I'll end up not using the noise-canceling just so I can actually hear my music without maxing out my MP3 player. Also, when the noise-canceling is turned on, there is a very audible high-pitched tone that after awhile can give me a headache.

The comfort of these headphones kind of makes me want to go back to ear buds. This is by far the worst feature. I have a small frame but I feel like my head is too large for these headphones. The convenience of the phones being foldable for storage comes at the price of a terrible location for the hinge on the phones - right at the top of your head. When I'm at work with my headphones on for a few hours at a time I'm constantly moving the phones around my head to get the hinge in a different spot, not to mention trying to find a hat that can give me the padding I need.

If you've ever had problems with comfort with headphones before but want to try something noise-canceling, I cannot recommend these. Other than that the sound quality seems fine, no better and no worse than what I've had before, and the phones have taken nicely to being in my backpack for the last year. They're a good value for the price, but I don't know that I'd get them for their noise-canceling and I certainly wouldn't say they're the most comfortable thing I've had on my head....

I'll start out by saying I collect mid-priced headphones(between $50 - $300). It may be an odd hobby, but it gives me a certain perspective that others may not have. I'm also an engineering major, and I found the general lack of objective, in-depth headphone reviews on Amazon to be disconcerting. So, here I am, taking a shot at reviewing some of the headphones I either own or have spent a lot of time listening to.

I've devised a simple six-song test and rating system, where 0 - 2 is abysmal, 2.1 - 4 is poor, 4.1 - 6 is mediocre, 6.1 - 8 is above average, and 8.1 - 10 is excellent.

The songs are very diverse; I was trying to represent a wide range of genres. They are "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac(encoded in 256 kbps Ogg Vorbis), "Every Planet We've Reached is Dead" by Gorillaz(256 kbps .ogg), "Concerto Grosso #26 in D major" by Handel(256 kbps .ogg), "I Know You Are, But What Am I?" by Mogwai(500 kbps .ogg), "Afro Blue" by Triplexity(192 kbps .ogg), and "The Patient" by Tool(500 kbps .ogg).

I listened to everything on an iAudio 7 with the equalizer set to flat and all the sound effects turned off.

Sound Quality(6.8/10)

The Chain(6/10) - bass is nice and deep, slightly exaggerated, but still pleasant to listen to. Distortion is present, but very minimal. Mid tones and highs are somewhat underrepresented and bland, but otherwise sound decent. Instrument separation is a bit muddy. The main negative here is the sound stage, which is tiny.

Every Planet(8/10) - lows and highs both sound very smooth and rich in this song. Mid tones, as before, are underrepresented and bland. Instrument separation is good, but the sound stage is very underwhelming.

Concerto(6/10) - the bass in this song is deep and vibrant. Lows are nicely responsive. Mids and highs don't have quite the balanced presence they should have. Instrument separation is fairly muddy. Once again, the sound stage is lacking.

I Know You Are(7/10) - bass, as expected, is nice and vivid. Distortion was too high near the beginning of the song, but gradually leveled off. Highs were nice and crisp, but mid tones were lacking. Instrument separation, as was the case with most other songs, is a bit muddy, and the sound stage, while not as bad in this song, is still mediocre.

I ordered this headset because I often work from home using a cell phone. I needed to hear and be heard more clearly. This headset excells. I sound clear on conference calls, and I never have a problem hearing. I recommend this for office quality use.

Unfortunatly, the adjustible headset was difficult to deal with. In order to adjust it, i had to pull very, very hard. after 3 days of doing this, the same piece holding the adjustible headband in place broke off. I'm happier with the headset fit now that it is broken....

I do not care for the silly look and feel of the bluetooth type 'in the ear' mobile phone headsets.

This unit has good audio, does not require the 'cell yell' that many mindlessly do while using the in-the-ear type units in crowded areas.

It is a 'Motor Trend' branded device, which probably adds unnecessarily to the cost.

Features are full, control of the phone is acceptable. It is delicate (my first one broke in one place, and limped along until it was further broken in checked luggage on an airline.

The boom mike assists in clear audio....

It is made of very cheap parts. I have an average size head and it didn't fit at all; well..I was able to put it on but felt the holder piercing into my head....

I couldn't find a comfortable set of 3.5mm headphones for my EnvTouch anywhere to save my life! The ones that was sold through my phone carrier were to big for my ears and they hurt. Other ones, I would've had to buy an adapter. This headset is very comfortable and fits perfectly! The sound quality is exactly what I expected it to be. I'm so glad I found these. These ear buds were shipped on time and I received them fairly quickly. Thank you!...
