Controlling Phone calls
Press the button once to take a call. During the phone conversation press button once to mute, press again to resume. Press button for 2 seconds to end the call.
Controlling the Music
While listening to music clicking the button once will pause/resume the music.
Toggle between music/phone
If you get a call while listening to music just press the button once to take the call, it will automatically pause the music, when done with the call press again and it will resume where it ended.

They are nice ear buds. I don't use the mic because I got them for my 3rd generation Ipod. Take care when cramming them into your ear. Lack of vents cause air compression and my left channel went out when I shoved it to far into my left ear. I was able to fix it by sucking on the opening. I believe the diaphragm got pushed in and got stuck or something.
Cords are a bit hard to manage. They look like they would last a long time but they are not soft enough to not remember curves from being coiled.
Sound is great though so long as you avoid to much over pressure in your ear from inserting them....

I'm no audio expert, but I think the quality is great. I use this while listening to music on my runs and can switch over to take a call if I want. Note the instructions above.... long press to end a call....

Good for the price, and they block outside noise. I'm satisfied with the sound quality. The only problem I have is that with wear and tear sometimes the rubber ear bud cover comes off and I've lost them. But these things take a beating going to and from work and getting shoved in my bag, etc. I would order them again....
