Summary: Effective noise reduction. Good music reproduction.
My guesstimate is that half the ambient noise is blocked by these plugs. Better than I had expected and pretty good for plain 'ol plugs! It takes a few trials to get used to twisting them into place. Once inserted properly, you hardly feel them.
The music reproduction is at least ok. Probably better than ok but my hearing isn't the best so I can't review this like an audiophile. But it sounds good to me.
I noticed the claimed frequency response is 12hz to 18khz. 12hz! That's amazingly low. I tested it with the 1812 overture (cannons!). First with some decent headphones - Panasonic RP-HS27s. In the ear models but not plugs. I've had these for years and they're solid performers. The cannons from 1812 sounded like weak firecrackers. You could hear them but it was just another sound. Then I tried the Klipschs. Oooh! A little bit of BOOM-BOOM in my head! Nothing like listening to 1812 with a decent sub-woofer but a lot more than I expected from these tiny little plugs. (The non-cannon music sounded the same on both the Panasonics and the Klipschs). EXCELLENT bass reproduction.
Sensitivity is 1mw/106db so they can output a lot of sound on weak inputs.
The plugs come with a nifty carrying case and TWO sets of replacement ear tips.
It's claimed the cables are tangle resistant and durable. Yup to the anti-tangle. Can't vouch for the durability - haven't had these long enough.

The Klipsch Image S3 headphones are a solid pair of mid priced IEMs. They certainly sound better and are much more comfortable than the stock ear buds that came with my Zune, and they outpace my $20.00 dollar pair Koss headphones. If you're in the market to upgrade your stock ear buds to something more substantial, the S3s will definitely do the trick. However, models like the Shure SE115-K Sound Isolating Earphones with Dynamic Microspeaker II (Black), Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5vi Noise Isolating Earphones w/ Microphone, and even Klipsch's own Klipsch IMAGE S4 In-Ear Enhanced Bass Noise-Isolating Headphones offer a better overall headphone for about $25 more.
The S3s come with a headphone case, and a fit kit with three different sizes of plastic ear pieces. Unfortunately, they don't come with foam ear pieces, which to me give a better seal than their plastic counterparts. But, I was able to get a good seal with the larger version of the ear pieces, and they were quite comfortable. They also allow both sport fit (wrapping the cord around the ear), and traditional fit (the cords hanging down like regular ear buds). After ...
