Retro Looks With so many similarly spec'd headphones out there, sometimes it boils down to looks. With RP-HTX7s, Panasonic gave things a vintage twist. Check the old-school perforated leather headband, the generous cans connected to piano-wire sliders, and the muted beige and white colors, contrasting with the big, puffy black ear cushions. Classic looks in a plastic age. Modern Sound These headphones boast a neodymium magnet and large-diameter 40mm driver units, ready to pump out the kind of crystal-clear highs, present mids, and hefty low-end you'd find with more premium price tags. A generous four-foot cord is suitable for home or portable use, and an ergonomic design and relatively light weight mean they're ready for long listening sessions. These are built to last too, with tough dome housing to handle outdoor uses, and a gold-plated connector to resist corrosion and help ensure great sound.

The people that are saying these headphones are as good as the more expensive ones must be tone deaf or something. They are good headphones but are not worth more than what they cost ~$40. I got mine for around $21 so they are a bargain at that price. Sound quality is good for most people, the headphones do not isolate outside noise as you might imagine, you can easily hear what's going on around you when the volume is low. These do not come with the extension cable so you'll need to buy an extension if you plan to use these with anything other than a portable MP3 player cable is only 4ft enough to go from your head to your waist. These are also very light, which makes them feel cheap but perfect for portable use. They also seem very delicate with the thin metal wires and plastic construction, but I can't judge on that as I've only had them for a few days now. Bottom line if you are looking for audiophile sound quality and something that feels like it's built well spend the money on the expensive stuff. If you want a good set of headphones you won't feel bad about abusing, letting your kids use them or losing them then get these, perfect for work....

Panasonic's RP-HTX7-RS Ryan Sheckler Signature Headphones are a very good pair of headphones at the entry level of the market. But once you start getting close to list price they are outclassed by many alternatives. I was lucky enough to buy a pair deeply discounted. While these are OK as an extra pair, they should probably be priced much less than they currently are.

It's important to test out cans like these with a variety of music. It's also important to give them time to adjust with extended play before you judge the sound quality. I spent quite a bit of time with these, and I think that there certainly sound good enough for most users. However, do not expect the type of sound quality that is going to blow you away. The sound is just ok.

The fit of these is part of the appeal. If you like the space cadet look of the extended metal head-bands as well as the simple shapes and clean lines, than you will find these to be attractive. These are definitely a candy apple red, so those who plan on wearing these around town will want to be mindful of just how conservative they like their electronics to look.

I noticed a tight fit on my very average sized head that started to give me a headache after an hour or so. With time, these adjusted somewhat but just be aware that they are tight. On the same token, those with small heads may feel less of a pinch but also have to factor in if they mind the fact that the metal bands swing out from the back of the ear pieces, making your head look bigger and rounder. Once again, that's just a personal preference.

The ear and band cushions definitely could have been beefed up a bit. The cord is definitely long enough for standard use on the go, or even for hooking up to a jack at home.

Many people will want a more conservative look, and some who don't care about looks may simply want slightly better quality sound. To that end, the Sennheiser HD201 Headphones win on both fronts. They are not much more comfortable, but they definitely have a lower profile and slightly better sound. At about half the price, they are pretty much a no-brainer for those looking for budget earphones. The main reason to pay the premium for these would be if you really are after the look, in which case you could certainly do worse. But for everybody else, give the HD201s a try.

Though I was happy to test the HTX7s after getting them on sale, I plan on getting a pair of HD201s right away to have as my extra pair. Those who want to move a little further up the food chain and don't mind spending a little more should try the AUDIO TECHNICA ATH-PRO5MS Stereo Headphones or the Audio-Technica ATH-M30 Professional Headphones.

Hope this helps.

Enjoy.

I really like these headphones.

I listen to bass-heavy electronic music like trance and these headphones have very sturdy bass and bright highs which are crucially important for the way I listen to this music. I can't really comment on the midrange since I'm not an audiophile.

The sealed headphones, when on your head, do not disturb others. Likewise the outside sound in my loud office environment is attenuated greatly by the sealed circumaural design which was my primary reason for buying these.

I only have two complaints. My glasses rub against the pads with a terrible noise which can be remedied by putting cloth over the pads. The other is probably not specific to these headphones but to all circumaural phones--it presses into my neck slightly below the ear and behind the jaw. It caused a rather weird sensation at first but I've gotten used to it.

Tightness is not a problem with these phones because of the vinyl-wrapped metal headband. This is great because it's impossible to overextend them--you just bend them back ...

Deep Bass Stereo Headphones & Earphones, Silver

This review is from: Coby CV215SVR Deep Bass Stereo Headphones and Earphones (Silver)

The actual headphones have pretty decent sound. I knew I wasn't getting bose quality when I ordered them but I expected at least a usable sound quality and I got that. However, after about a week of minor use with them whenever I would move my head i could hear something large shaking around within the left ear part. As though something had dislodged. After a while that stopped. Then the right ear started. Then the sound got weird and tinny unless I held the cord at a certain angle. I'm happy to say that at the moment [i'm using them as I type this] they're back to their original average quality. They definitely don't seem to be long term headphones but for the price I'm still satisfied. Also, when I thought that maybe I'd give the headphones a rest and use the earbuds for a while I was terribly disappointed at the sound quality. Much like everyone else said, the sound quality of the earbuds is pretty awful and airy and...baseless. But still the price drew me to them and if you just need to hear something they can manage that. Just don't expect too much....

Yes I said it. These headphones are so sexy. I'm in love with black and red. So the style fits everything I own, perfectly. The DJ style headphones are great and work perfectly with my computer. You get a nice crisp sound, no matter what bit rate your songs are at. The fact that the in-ear headphones come in a neat little case, is so perfect. It's actually a little bigger then my iPod. I have the iPod nano, 3g. The in-ear headphones also have a great sound quality. For such a low price for 2 pairs of headphones, it's totally worth it. The only problem I have with Colby heaphones, is that the in-ear styles don't last long. Or maybe it's just because I'm rough on headphones, but all in all, if you're looking for both kinds of headphones, and don't want to pay an outrageous price, then these are the ones for you....

This review is from: Coby CV215SVR Deep Bass Stereo Headphones and Earphones (Silver)

These are amazing quality for the price. The noise canceling aspect is great. The sound quality is not perfect but it is good enough. You will hear a little static sometimes but it is more than livable. In fact most of the time you won't even notice it. Haven't had a chance to try out the ear buds yet but the headphones alone are worth a lot more that $8....

“They are not just average headphones with a cool share. They are the most comfortable ones I have ever used. The round earbud fits perfectly in your ear without hurting after awhile.” --Maria Espinal, She Magazine

This review is from: Lady Gaga Heartbeats In-Ear Headphones (Bright Chrome)

Usually, I am not one for artist-endorsed products, but the GaGa Monster Heartbeats in-ear headphones looked so fab from pictures that I decided to check them out in real. For starters, the box looked really stylish and the headphones are placed in yet another black box which is magnetically latched. Once opened, you will see the bright chrome and white cables with the matching protective pouch. Once taken out, the headphones feel sturdy and the cables are truly tangle-free and every bit the trademark of Monster cables.

Now, beauty aside. The sound is amazing and it should be for it costs almost US$170 here than in the US. Once I picked the ear buds of the correct size, everything else is secondary. I connected the earphones to my iPhone and there was so much clarity and bass pumping from them at even 3/4 of the volume slider. I could hear almost all the background instrumentation and effects. More importantly, all surrounding ambient noise is cut off almost entirely.

Sweet....

This review is from: Lady Gaga Heartbeats In-Ear Headphones (Bright Chrome)

So I just got my Bright Chrome Heartbeats yesterday. I originally wanted the Dr. Dre Beats headphones when they first came out but they were out of my price range. Being a fan of Lady Gaga and liking to look fashionable while listening to music I had to get these. Plus the price was in my budget! I must say I'm quite impressed. They come very nicely packaged with a fashionable looking case to keep them protected. The look of the headphones are very nice and I am loving the tangle free cords. I will say at first listen I wasn't blown away by the sound. You have to make sure if you're using them with an ipod, iphone, itouch or whatever "i" device you own that you change the settings to "sound check On", and make sure you have the best fit in your ear for the ear buds. It comes with 4 or 5 different sizes and I never was a fan of the kinds that stick in your ear, but these are the first that fit me comfortably and actually stay in my ears. After I made these adjustments it was a difference of night and day. I actually said "wow" out loud but I didn't hear myself say it. The ear buds do an excellent job blocking out background noise, so good that's it's a lil scary. I listen to a broad range of music and I've found so far that these definitely enhance certain genres of music while others not so much. Electronica, pop, and hip-hop sound amazing on these headphones. Also live recordings sound brilliant, I actually felt like I was in the audience while listening to Sia's live version of "Distractions". Of course Lady Gaga sounds fab on these too. Overall I'm very happy with them. If you're a music lover check these out. You did good Gaga. =^.^=...

This review is from: Lady Gaga Heartbeats In-Ear Headphones (Bright Chrome)

Lady GaGa's Heartbeats by Dr. Dre are what I like to call the Special Occasion kind of buds; though they are sexy, gorgeous, and will match anything it is plugged into or anything the user wears, these babies are, in a bittersweet way, the stilettos and high-heels of headphones.

Lady GaGa's Heartbeats are sold in three different colors; Bright Chrome, Rose Red, and Black Chrome. Though I honestly would have liked to have seen them in purple, the three choices all have a flair that will attract anyone even if they're not crazy about any of the three available colors when it comes to personal taste. You can't look at these and walk away not thinking "I *really* want those!" The design is alluring and exotic, and will get quite a bit of notice even when walking past pedestrians on the road or passing people in stores. When it comes to appearance, these are one-of-a-kind.

One fall back with the design is the paint job; rather than already-colored plastic, the buds and any other plastic area of the buds and wire are painted over. Excessive use or carelessness will lead to the wearing-away of the paint-job... And these are not the kind of buds where you can stick either bud in either ear; left fits left, and right fits right. If you get them opposite, you will know.

Now to get down to business...

Looking for 'perfect' noise isolation? These are one of the few buds to look at; they offer a lot of noise isolation... Though it may be a bit much, especially for people walking on busy streets, which will even get the consumer to be concerned every now and then.

The sound quality depends on the music you listen to; generally the quality is phenomenal, but it's even more awe-inspiring when you listen to what they were designed for... Electronic, Pop, Hip-Hop, Glam, Techno, and synthesized or special-effect filled tracks. I have noticed so many different things in the songs I've listened to that I never noticed when I used any of my other buds. Again, beautiful ...
