Before purchasing this bluetooth headset, I was always of the mindset that there was no bluetooth headset on the market good enough for the critical consumer. This device proved me wrong. I have been through at least 3 prior headsets before this, each hoping that I would be proven wrong. I constantly encountered problems with clarity on incoming calls and static on outgoing calls where people would tell me that I sounded muffled. I gave up on bluetooth headsets for about 3 years until recently because I have begun traveling quite a bit, causing me to talk on the phone a lot more. So I did the research and took the plunge with this device.

This device has been awesome so far. The battery came fully charged. I have made over 20 calls with this now and there have been no complaints about the sound quality. I even walked into a subway where it is like a wind tunnel when the subway comes through the tunnel, and I can still hear the caller with clarity. The dual mic technology is fantastic in cancelling noise, especially wind, and I have been able to walk around my house without any noise distortion. This thing is great. Take the plunge like me, you won't regret it....

I have had this headset for a few months and has performed very well. I am using it with an iPhone 3GS. Battery life, call clarity on both ends and comfort have all been excellent. Very easy to use and pair. Highly recommeded....

I wanted it after I saw the video on how it was made. I chose it for it's noise canceling capabilities. I can't believe how great it actually works! Seriously, I am a hard sell, rarely satisfied. But this is one of those rare times.

I was walking down a windy street and left my best friend a message to test the sound quality. He forwarded me the voice message so that I could hear it myself. WOW! I could barely hear the wind in spots. I was blown away.

And now, I can talk on the phone in my car on the freeway and people can hear me over the car/road noise. And I can hear people - easily.

I'm very impressed. The talk time and the standby time are nice.

I was a little disappointed that the company I bought it from didn't say that they were selling wholesale products so it didn't come with all the different sized ear buds. They were, however, nice enough to refund partial payment in the amount of the replacement buds.

All-in-all I have been extremely happy with my purchase!...

Admittedly, what drew me first to this set of earphones was the design. Since I've owned many other high quality earbuds before with similar looks (Shure E4C, Bose, Apple, Senns.), I was looking for something different to go along with my new Zune HD. At first, I was a little skeptical because of some so-so reviews on the net. But because I could get these by just cashing in miles (18,000) from United Airlines at their online store, I decided to go for it.

After using these for about 3 weeks now, I can say that I am very happy with them.

First the positives: Nice build quality.

The material and fit/finish looks top notch. From just the look, one will get a sense that these are quality products. The flat cable is indeed tangle-resistance. During use, I either wound the cable around my Zune or just shove the whole thing in my pocket. After which, I could just shake it a few times, and the cable would be unwound. Could never do the same with my other earbuds.

Sound quality. Great, no disappointment. A caveat here is that you have to get the right fit, and this goes for all types of earbuds. I first tried the medium earpiece, but these were too small. I could never get a good seal so the sound was tinny with non-existant bass. I then switched to the flange-type (I call it christmas-tree) and ended up using the biggest ones. With these, I could get and most importantly, retain a nice tight seal, even during a work-out. The result is a powerful, tight bass with smooth mids. The highs are just right, not shrilling. With these, I can listen to music for a long time without fatigue.

Design. This is just a personal preference, but I like the design. Makes them stand apart from the all the other white earbuds that everyone has. Although the photos seem to suggest that these may protrude out pretty far from the ear, in actual use, they are quite flushed once put in. I think the reason for this is that there's a slight angle to the ear piece, which fits the contour of the ear more.

Now the negatives: A little hard to find the right fit. Yeah for some reason, it took me some time to find a good fit for these phones. With my other ones, I had a lot easier time.

The weight of the flat cable is a little heavy. During a long run, I need to use a clip so that the cable don't pull down and loosen the seal of the earbuds.

The extra ear pieces only come a little plastic bag. With the Apple in-ear phones, the earpieces come in a nifty capsule, which makes it easier to locate and store.

I would recommend these to my friends. Just make sure that you get the real ones from a reputable re...

I drive a truck and this bluetooth headset lives up to it's billing. I've been frustrated over the years with cell phone headsets. Most are difficult to hear in a noisy big rig. I've had this one about a month and I'm extremely pleased with the clarity. The callers I talk to tell me their end sounds great as well. I've talked off and on for several hours over a couple of days stretch before needing to charge the battery. The charge is completed while I sleep in the bunk. It's lightweight, adjustable and fairly comfortable. At times I forget it's on my head. Sometimes I don't even take off my hat to use it. The boom mike pivots out of the way when you don't need it. Easy to set-up....just fully charge the battery before initially turning on the unit, make the connection to your phone and you're good to go. The manuals are easy to follow too. If you have a bluetooth phone and need a quality headset this is the one to get....

As a trucker in need of a bluetooth headset I've been looking for one that had the volume I needed and the noise canceling needed for those I talked with. This is,for me,the perfect solution period. I have tried a blueant product, a motorola headset and one from plantronics. The plantronics worked well but after switching to a new phone (att tilt) I was unable to hear well enough to have a conversation. This headset was all I had hoped it would be and saved me from having to try another phone or worse continuing to throw money at headsets that would only dissapoint. One really nice feature is that when paired it is not necessary to wear it to hear the phones ringer the phone rings normally and you simply put it on then answer the call....

Shure tried to pack a lot of performance into the SCL2 earbuds, and, in general, they succeeded. In sound isolating (as opposed to noise-cancelling) phones, the design challenge is to create a seal between the wearer's ear canal and the unit such that a minimum of ambient sound "gets by" the seal and interferes with the sound being generated by the miniature set of diaphragms housed within. From a sound-isolating standpoint, it's difficult for the seal to be "too tight." The tradeoff on seal effectiveness is usually wearer comfort.

Shure has done a good job with these SCL2's. They are light, but that's to be expected, even desired. They are a little wierd-looking, protruding from the ears about 1/2 inch, but if you've paid your dues seeking sonic excellence, you've seen plenty of wierd over time. These are not offensive in that regard. Besides, they sound good, so what's the complaint?

When they arrived, I decided to put them to a serious listening test. My iPod has over 7,000 songs and 30 feature movies in a highly eclectic collection, so I have plenty of opportunities for a challenge.

I've always thought that solo piano, well-recorded, was a supreme test for speakers. If they could reproduce the full range of sounds without noticeable response peaks and valleys, they were probably pretty good speakers. The same criteria, I believe, apply to earphones as well.

I used my collection of Angela Hewitt recordings of J. S. Bach's piano works to take the phones to the gym, and to my great pleasure. The response was clean, transparent, and, as far as I can hear, linear. In short, an A on that count.

At this point, it's probably the right time to address another reviewer's complaint about the bass response of the SCL2's. I can understand how someone might declare these phones inadequate. All I can say about it is that I like bass, but I like it the way it was recorded (you can't easily make a case that you expect it to sound like live music, because not all sound engineers attempt to make it sound like it does fifth row center in a sonically pure concert hall; also, it depends on where you sit in that venue as to the kind of sound you might hear.) In my opinion, these phones are not inadequate. They just don't overemphasize bass tones like some phones are designed to do. Excess bass inthese phones might well be painful.

After about four hours of listening to classical piano and a playlist of Tschaikowsky symphonies, I was ready for some rock, pop, and jaaz. The Shures really shined here. They brought out nuances that I've never heard in recordings that I've listened to for 40 years. As Martha Steweart might say, that's a good thing.

Setting up the product is not a chore, but requires a few minutes of your undivided attention. Shure packs three different sizes of three separate designs of sonic seals. There are clear silicone gels, black extra-soft rubber seals, and some orange memory foam ones. I can't say they've covered all bases, but I found one that creates the desired sea...

I bought these without trying them out first: this is the only way to buy Phiaton in the US.

Let's start with the good.

1. The sound. The sound is absolutely stunning. I am not an expert, but do have several pairs of high performance earphones, including Klipsch image X10 and X5. After a side by side comparison, Phiaton came in as a winner. The bass is well balanced, highs and mids are exceptionally defined. The whole thing is very, very listenable.

2. You can listen to music even without having noise cancelling option turned on. The volume and quality of sound drops just a tiny bit, but it is still pretty good.

Now the bad.

1. These little things are very light weight, have a noise cancelling box half way down the cord. The box isn't much bigger than the AAA battery that it holds. The positioning of it is unfortunate, however. When I run with these, it I have to hold my iPhone in hand, instead of putting it in the pocket, and that gets old.

2. Poor fit. While they create a good seal, my left ear got very sore after a two hour run with the earphones.

3. The general construction of the earphone: flimsy. These are definitely not designed for longevity. The first day, the little rubber seal between the back of the earphone and the silicone ear tip came off. I put it back, but it will not stay where it needs to be. Also, the gold colored wire that holds the earphone to the cord, doesn't feel very durable. And these do not tolerate sweat very well. I wonder how long it would take me to corrode the wire... I will keep you updated.

In a nutshell... If you want excellent sound, but don't care about other things, these are for you. I decided to keep them, even if for airplane travel, as the noise cancelling feature is very adequate. Happy shopping!...

After trying out several different in-ear 'phones, including the Klipsch IMAGE S4 In-Ear Enhanced Bass Noise-Isolating Headphones and the Sony Premium EX MDR-EX310LP - Headphones ( in-ear ear-bud ) -- and being wholly disappointed in the sound (relative to my home cans, the Allen & Heath Xone:XD-53 Professional Monitoring Headphones) -- I was just about ready to give up on the whole portable music thing. Then I ran across several glowing reviews of these Phiatons, so I thought I'd give it one last chance. I'm definitely glad that I did, because these are terrific 'phones. With or without the noise cancelling feature engaged, the sonic quality is very high. I find that using a perfectly flat equalization on my Sony Walkman NWZ-E354BLK Series 8GB Video Mp3 Player (Black) sounds best, which indicates that these 'phones are pretty flat across the frequency spectrum. They have a solid, but not artificially boosted, bass response. Now, they will not reproduce the "you're in the dance club"-type bass that I can get using my Xone XD-53's when playing my favorite dance tunes from Kaskade, but the bass is palpable and accurate. They really sound terrific playing Groundation's bass-heavy album Here I Am, for example.

The noise cancelling works great on reducing hum and rumble-type noise. The best way to hear the effect is to switch it on without playing any music. It's like stepping into a library! You ...
