First of all, don't buy this at Circuit City. You'll save a heck of a lot of money using Amazon instead.

As far as the headset, the volume is much louder than the headset from MS that comes with the 360. I've also heard that I come across much more clear using this headset, which is good. The louder volume is a big thing with me as I thought the original headset was just too low.

The big negative to the headset, as the previous user attested to, is the fit of the right side of the headset. It's just too tight on your head after a reasonable amount of gaming. Unfortunate too, because the rest of the headset is very high quality....

This review is from: Xbox 360 Motorola Gaming Headset X205

I thought judging by the look of the headset, large ear cup design, noise canceling microphone, EA, and NFL logo that this was going to be an excellent product. I was wrong.

With the first product the volume had to be turned all the way up and even then the sound was way to low. After a couple of tries nothing came through the headphones. I thought well its just a fluke.

Then I was shocked to learn that the second headset that I purchased produced no sound. Just occasional static. Both headsets were tried on both Microsoft wireless controllers and new batteries were put in. Both were connected properly.

I then purchased the Microsoft wired headset and it works great. Stick with Microsoft on this one. They also have a wireless version which would be worth checking out.

The other minor downside is the tight feel. With some people it may be an issue after prolonged gaming. The Microsoft headset has a lighter feel and is more comfortable.

I bought this headset because of the Motorola name and some other positive reviews. It seems solidly made, but I've had a few issues with it. First, I don't know if my head is too big but the non-cup side of the headset applies a decent amount of pressure such that after a while I have to move that side occasionally to prevent getting sore. This is despite having the headset expanded fully. Second, when the cord is brushed against (adjacent to the controller), sometimes I get some static despite the cord being inserted completely. Third, the part the actually inserts into the controller sometimes gets partially pulled out (when I'm playing Madden), which didn't happen with the standard headset. Overall the headset feels well-built, but does have some problems....

This review is from: Creative HS-800 Fatal1ty Gaming Headset

I play lots of video games on my PC and they've been a lot more enjoyable since getting this headset. The first thing I noticed when I put these on was that they were extremely cushiony on my head. This is both a good and bad thing because it makes them very comfortable, but they blocked out so much noise that I had a hard time hearing even my doorbell or phone ringing. The headset is a bit tight on my head, but I think that'll wear off as I wear it more. The earcups actually swivel a bit in place which makes them more comfortable for people that don't have perfectly symmetrical heads such as myself.

This headset is great for gaming. In fps's like Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike Source, this headset let me hear the direction shots were being fired from with a lot more precision than my previous headset. I could also hear small details in the sounds that I couldn't hear before. The sound in the headset sounded odd at first, like they were quiet or like they were coming from behind me, but after a while they felt more realistic and accurate. I am guessing this is because I am used to wearing any old lousy headset.

The headset is also great for music. I noticed a huge improvement in the quality of the bass from my old headset(the headset I used before, a Logitech Extreme Gaming Headset had almost no bass). I'm not a huge music person, but I notice the little details a lot more easily than with my old headset

The microphone with this headset is pretty good. When voice-chatting on MSN/live messenger, the voice quality is better than when talking to someone with my phone. The in-line controls are in a good position and easy to reach while wearing the headset. The microphone-mute button works fine and the volume control has a good range. One nice thing about it is that you can remove the microphone, which is useful for people like my little brother who rarely need a microphone and don't want it in their way (one thing to note is the first time I tried attaching the mic, I didn't realize it has to fit a specific way into the slot on the headset and accidentally chipped a piece of the plastic by forcing it in the wr...

This review is from: Beats Solo Hi-Def (PRODUCT)RED Headphones with ControlTalk

SHORT VERSION: Highly recommended. Great audio quality for on-ear headphones. Highly portable and convenient to store. More comfortable than most on-ear cans. Works great as a headset for both the iPhone 3GS and iPad.

LONG VERSION: The Beats by Dr Dre Solo HD (RED) headphones are exactly what I expected: high-quality, portable on-ear headphones with an above average mic. At the time of writing, the only other review on Amazon gives these a 3-star rating and compares the headphones to the Beats by Dr. Dre Studio edition over-the-ear headphones. The problem with that is the two headphones serve completely different purposes. The "Studio" edition headphones are meant primarily for audiophiles who aren't going to be wearing them on the bus/subway or walking around the city, as--like the name suggests--they're studio headphones which are meant for stationary audio consumption (generally indoors). By contrast, the "Solo" line is just the opposite. While they're not nearly as portable as in-ear headphones like those that come with the iPhone or , they make listening to music during a commute on the bus/subway much more tolerable than the tinny sound that you get from the baseline Apple headset. If I were looking to buy a pair of stationary audio consumption headphones, I'd be buying a pair of over-the-ear (or on-ear powered) headphones. Now that I'm done ranting about the previous review, let me give you my take on the Beats by Dr Dre Solo HD (RED):

My Use Case: I commute from around the Haight in San Francisco to around 2nd and Market with about 10 minutes of walking and about 20 minutes on the bus. I am an audiophile tech geek who rarely is not listening to music either on my iPhone, iPad, or Macbook Pro; if I am without one of those three devices, it probably means I'm not interested in listening to music, or I'm at a concert, so take into account that 1) I am an Apple fanboy who is willing to pay a little extra for high-quality products and good design aesthetics, and 2) I commute approximately 10-12 hours a week.

My Previous Cans: My previous on-ear headphones are the Grado SR125s, which I replaced because 1) they don't have a mic, 2) the cord is too long, 3) one of the cans now has a slight bit of static from an unfortunate fall off my desk. If it weren't for points 1 and 2, I'd likely have just gotten those again and continued swapping them out with my iPhone headset every time I needed to answer the phone or make a call. I'm very glad that I investigated on-ear cans that have both a mic and remote on the wire, as I would have likely never considered these headphones without those features mostly because of the higher cost. It should also be noted that SR225s (which are roughly the same price as the Beats by Dr Dre Solo HD) sound slightly better than the Beats but are not nearly as portable and lack the mic/remote.

- Price vs Quality (5 stars): These headphones are expensive. There's no denying that. You pay a premium for Dr. Dre's name, the Monster brand, and the fact that a portion of the sale is donated to charity; however, the fact is that my previous pair of on-ear headphones (the SR125s) were about $60 cheaper, but they did not sound as good, were not nearly as convenient of a product, and were significantly less stylish (if you care about that sort of thing).

- Audio Quality (4 stars): They're not over-the-ear headphones and there...

Achieve Perfect Fit and Seal Over-the-ear design keeps the M6 in place for an active lifestyle

In-Ear Fit Guide Sound quality and bass response are dependent on the seal achieved between the ear tips and your ear canal. Please try the various sizes of ear tips included with your earphone to determine which gives you the best sound and comfort. The sound may change depending on the insertion depth and tip size. First Use The MEE M6 earphone is an over-the-ear earphones with memory wire and may take several minutes to get the MEE M6 positioned for the best sound. Adjusting how the memory wire is positioned, insertion angle, as well as tips are important for comfort and getting a proper seal. If you do not hear much bass, you do not have a good seal. If the treble sounds harsh, the earphone requires a deeper insertion. Six sets of ear tips have been provided to help you achieve the best seal and comfort possible, please try the tips you think will fit your ear canal size best. Note: different ear tips may change the sound you hear due to how deep they insert and how well they seal. Usually tips with more flanges offer better isolation. Earphone Insertion Each earphone is marked with a R for right and L for left channels. The MEE M6 channels are not swappable due to the design. Moistening your ear tips may make insertion easier. Pulling the upper part of your ear (helix) up and back while inserting your earphone opens your ear canal during insertion, which may improve your ability to get a deep insertion at the proper angle. Using the Memory Wire The memory wire keeps the cable over your ear and in place so the M6 will not move around even during sports and activities. The memory wire is designed to be flexible and bent to the shape of your ear. The first time wearing the M6, put the driver housing in your ear and bend the memory wire around your ear to achieve a conforming fit. The memory wire will retain its shape for easier future installation. Repeatedly bending the memory wire at sharp angles will break the memory wire. If you are still having issues, or if you feel that your earphone just does not sound as you think it should, please contact MEElectronics for more assistance. Burn-In Many owners have stated that the sound may improve with use when compared to the out of the box sound. This change in sound will occur with normal listening and is not necessary; however you can accelerate this process by playing music at a normal volume continuously for the first several days, called burn in. Prelude

Before late February, I didn't know anything about MEElectronics. When I finally heard about the company and purchased my M9Ps, I realized that they were a company that I should keep my eye on. In the time since, I've had the chance to review their lower end IEM models, the SX-31 and M2s and I've been impressed by the both of them, in different ways. Now, I'm here with a review of the first generation M6 models, one of MEElectronics' higher end IEMs. These apparently share the same drivers as the M9s and M9Ps and if that's true, then I should be in for a pleasant experience. So, did the M6 IEMs live up to my expectations? Read...

This review is from: Noise Cancellation Headphones, Black/Gray, Sold as 1 each

As an introduction, I have a technical background and many years experience in electronics, and have worked as an electronics engineer in an audio company at one time.

There are a large number of "noise canceling" headphones on the market. Most of them use digital electronic trickery that subtracts away some of the noise around the listener. These Maxell HP/NC headphones are different - they use a tiny microphone that "listens" to the sound the headphones make, and ensure that this sound exactly matches the electrical signal from your mp3 player or other audio source.

This has the effect of removing some of the ambient noise, since that noise is not present in the electrical signal going into the headphones. But even better, it also reduces the distortion and flattens the frequency response of the headphones where it counts most - at your ear. As a result, this HP/NC family of headphones has a far more accurate bass response than any other lightweight on-the-ear (supra-aural) headphone. Normally, only over-the-ear (circumaural) headphones produce this sort of deep and accurate bass.

So, these headphones quieten the background noise a little bit, and as a bonus, give you much more accurate deep bass than other on-the-ear headphones of similar size and weight. For me, the second feature is what I like most about them.

For those with an electronics background: what the HP/NC design does is apply negative feedback around the entire headphone, including the acoustic sound pressure level at your ear, by sensing this with a tiny microphone built into each earpiece. Negative feedback flattens the frequency response and lowers harmonic distortion, which is why these 'phones have such deep and accurate bass. The negative feedback is applied only at frequencies below roughly 1 kHz, so the phones have pretty accurate bass and mid frequencies.

Later models of the Maxell HP/NC phones (HP/NC-III, HP/NC-IV) have the same type of electronic design, but the headphones themselves are bigger, heavier, bulkier, and less comfortable. Also to my ears the treble response is a little dull. A pity.
