JVC HANCX77 in Ear Canal Headphone

Up to 80% noise reduction (more than 14dB at 120Hz)

Contoured canal design for a sure fit and maximum sound isolation

In-line volume control

Powerful neodymium 8.5mm driver unit

Frequency Response: 8 - 24,000 Hz

The HANCX77 is JVC's first in-ear style noise canceling headphones reflecting JVC's commitment to style and technology. It cancels up to an amazing 80% (more than 14dB at 120Hz) of background noise, and also features a unique contoured canal design earpiece that's slightly angled, allowing a natural and secure fit that provides maximum sound isolation. Because of the superb ambient noise seal, precise acoustic coupling to the eardrum can be employed, thereby lowering the volume required to achieve the full sonic impacat. The HANCX77 also features a monitor function that allows users to mute the sound for conversation or listening to announcements. Provided accessories include three different sizes ear pieces, dual plug adaptor, soft carrying case, and one AAA battery which runs the unit for approximately 70 hours.

This review is from: JVC HANCX77 in Ear Canal Headphone

I bought these to replace headphone-style noise-canceling headphones (which only worked adequately). I figured the inner-ear style would add to the noise reduction my headphone-style ones didn't provide. The inner-ear style of these certainly reduces ambient noise, but turning on and off the electronic noise reduction did absolutely nothing. I tried replacing the battery and that was not the problem. My test was to sit in front of an un-tuned radio (static). My old headphones had a noticeable change when noise reduction was turned on and off (they changed the sound somewhat) but the JVC ones had NO noticeable change. Good thing I have my receipt because they are going right back....
