I ordered the .Audio 920 and was surprised to receive the headset labeled Voyager 520. I called Plantronics and they explained that the .Audio 920 is simply a packaging of the Voyager 520 with a bluetooth USB adapter. If I would have known this, I would have purchased the Voyager 520 separately at a lower cost.

The reason I bought the headset is to be able to make and receive calls with Skype on my laptop (HP 6710b), which has an integrated bluetooth adapter. I have not tried the Plantronics USB adapter because I was able to pair the headset with my laptop's integrated bluetooth and use the headset with Skype version 3.8.32.188 on Windows XP.

I installed the Plantronics PerSonoCall software that Plantronics claims is required in order to answer Skype calls with the headset button, but I have not been able to get the software to recognize the headset. So I don't use the software since I am able to answer and end Skype calls with the headset button without running the software.

The headset beeps when I receive a Skype call, and also beeps when I receive a Skype chat message (after I enabled the proper audio alerts in my Skype settings and set the Plantronics headset as the default audio device for Mic, Speakers, and Ringning in Skype). I find this very useful, as I can answer incoming calls and be alerted of new chat messages when away from my computer.

If you plan to use your computer speakers or sound card for music and movies, make sure that the Plantronics headset does not set itself as the default audio device for your entire system in the Windows 'Sound and Audio Devices' settings.

The comfort and volume of the headset seem fine for me- no problems there. I much prefer this little BT headset to the wired USB headset I was using previously- it fit over my head with a speaker for both ears and a long mic stem. The Plantronics headset is more comfortable and convenient, and of course wireless.

The noise-cancellation feature does not seem to work as good as I hoped, but I have not had anyone complain about call quality.

The headset will stay actively synchronized to the PC continually throughout the day, waiting for a call. I was glad to find that the headset will not automatically turn off if it does not receive a call after a certain amount of time. The battery life should allow you to use the headset all day without recharging (if you are not streaming music to the headset between calls.) The manual claims a talk-time of 8 hours and a recharge time of 2 hours, and also says: "The radio link between the headset and the USB Bluetooth adapter will only be active during a call. This is the default setting intended to preserve the battery life of the headset. However, you may wish to have the radio link active when not on a call so you can listen to other audio sources, such as streaming audio on your PC. Locking the radio link on for extended periods of time will significantly reduce the standby and talk time of the headset."

I hope someone else who wants to use a bluetooth headset with Skype finds this useful. If you are sure that your computer's existing Bluetooth adapter will work, you can simply purchase the Voyager 520 (My BT adapter is a Broadcom Bluetooth 2.0 integrated module, firmware 2.1.207.297, HCI version 2.0 subversion 2129, LMP version 2.0 subversion 41CF). Or perhaps if your computer's integrated Bluetooth adapter is not a recent model and you don't want to risk it, you can go ahead and buy the Audio 920 package so you will have the Plantronics USB adapter just in case.

FYI, I ordered from ANTOnline through Amazon on April 1 and received the items in new condition with retail packaging on April 6....

I had high hopes that I could use this headset for skype and with my blackberry. It works, but it is not as seamless as Plantronics claims. In fact, I cannot get it to connect with my Blackberry Curve unless I go through the Blackberry menus and select "connect" every time. Audio quality is good with skype. But the bluetooth connection to my Blackberry is full of static unless I keep the phone on the same side of my body as the headset.

I bought this becuase I wanted to carry around a single headset when I travel. Well, I will keep using it for skype because it works well. But I am going to go back to my old, trust Motorolla headset for use with my phone....

I bought this item specifically for use with Skype and couldnt be happier. Sound quality on this headset is the best I have had since using Skype two years ago. Most clients have no clue that I am on a headset and nobody has complained of poor audio quality since purchasing this unit. Highly recommended from this user!...
