Product Description From the Manufacturer

Klipsch Image S5i Rugged In-Ear Headphones LWhether you shred the slopes or pound the pavement, you need headphones that can keep up with you. With a mic to take phone calls, a carrying case with flashlight, and a three-button remote control to easily navigate playlists and calls (even if you're wearing gloves), the Image S5i Rugged is like the MacGyver of headphones. This unique in-ear headphone offers bold styling, highly intelligible phone calls and full music and/or voice control on select Apple products.

Comfort on the Go Perfect for runners, skaters and other adventure seekers, the Klipsch Image S5i Rugged headphones, with in-line mic and three-button remote, are extremely durable, yet still deliver the same high-quality comfort and sound that has made Klipsch popular. Designed to live with the elements, the Image S5i Rugged has a competitive edge because, unlike other brands, it uses patented oval ear tips for unequaled comfort and a secure fit. The headphones and remote are moisture tested to offer weather resistance for outdoor activities. The Image S5i Rugged features a unique Apple-based mic and three-button remote system for taking calls and having full music and/or voice control on select iPod and iPhone models. The buttons on the remote are slightly enlarged, making them easy to navigate when on-the-go or wearing gloves. High-Performance SoundIn addition to unequaled comfort, these exclusive ear tips create a perfect acoustic seal to produce Klipsch's renowned, high-performance sound. The passive noise cancellation provided by the ear tip blocks out more noise than powered competitive noise cancelling headphones. Because we want you to be rocking out to your favorite tunes for a long, long time, the seal also allows you to enjoy your music at lower, safer volumes. The Image S5i Rugged features powerful dual magnet motor structures allowing for powerful bass and low distortion. These headphones sound amazing, with clear highs and enhanced lows.

FunctionalityAvailable in a black finish with rubber accents, the Image S5i’s audio works with virtually any device that has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack; however, the mic and three-button remote only support select Apple products. Navigating your favorite playlists with the Image S5i Rugged couldn’t be easier. The plus and minus buttons control volume up and down, while the middle button does the rest of the work. When listening to music press the middle button once to play/pause, twice to track forward and three times to track back. For phone use, just press the middle button once to answer and once to end the call. You can also use the middle button to take advantage of the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPad’s voice control feature. Just hold down the button and say your command. Durability Klipsch has gone the extra distance to ensure the durability of each Image model. Subjected to extensive real world testing, Klipsch headphones

feature enhanced cables and durable strain relief at every connection point to prevent wire damage. In fact, Klipsch Image headphone products endure some of the most rigorous testing in the industry. Covered by one of the best warranty programs in the industry, with a 2-year replacement policy on all headphone products as opposed to the 1-year offered by many competitors, you can rest assured that your Klipsch headphones will provide years of listening enjoyment. Added Frills Available in a black finish with rubber accents, the Image S5i Rugged comes with three pairs of different-sized patented oval ear tips, clothing clip and a heavy-duty safety case with a built-in flashlight and removable belt clip.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)

Klipsch is a well-known high-end speaker maker, so I was excited to try one of their headphone products. I'm obsessive about my sound, and I'm always looking forward to trying another high-end product, especially when it's priced fairly reasonably.

In terms of construction quality, the S5i hits the right balance between size, weight and overall quality. The cord seems flexible and strong without looking like it would come apart at the first strong tug. The 3-button control is slightly small for big hands, but the buttons are large and easily operated, even with gloves. The earpieces also seem well constructed, and as an added bonus, the whole thing is water resistant should you get caught in the rain. The included case has a small LED flashlight integrated with it - another nice touch.

As for operation, they worked fine with everything I tried - a few different types of iPods/iPhones, an Android phone and the headphone jack on a few PCs. The volume control and microphone seemed to work on all of these devices, but the third button (play/pause) only worked with my latest iPod Touch. In my opinion, this is a great addition to the iPod Touch...I liked that the older iPods with the wheel controls could be left in your pocket and operated by feel - the Klipsch adds this feature back to newer touchscreen devices.

To me, the number one criteria is sound quality, and while I wouldn't rate the Klipsch as equal to my all time favorites (Shure SE530 - about five times the price of the Klipsch), they are quite good overall while also being very comfortable. The level of sound isolation is good, the headphones feel light in your ears, and they seem comfortable for hours of continued use. Low bass is reasonable - clear and uniform, without being overwhelming or muddy (this is my big complaint about Bose headphones - strong bass, but very muddy). Midrange sounds are probably Klipsch's best attribute and are reproduced as well as any I've heard. Highs a...
