Things I liked about these earplugs: (1) They look cheap. And I don't want to be mugged. (2) Contrary to what other people stated in their reviews, I found the noise cancellation pretty good. I was traveling right beside the plane jets and when I turned the noise cancellation on (without even turning on my ipod), the hiss of the jets would nearly die out. (3) The passive noise reduction is pretty good too. I forgot to buy batteries and was using it without the noise cancellation in the subways and I say it was worth it. (4) the sound quality is decent. But don't expect that any amount of money you expend on earplugs is going to buy you bose-like bass.

Bad things: (1) They go deep into the ear canal. I can't wear them for too long. In the beginning it is not uncomfortable. The rubber in the earplugs is soft enough. But after like three hours I want to take them off.

All in all, I think this is a good option for noise-cancelling earplugs, even without taking price into consideration. But don't expect any earplugs to compare to $500 bose earphones....

The noise reduction is good, though the sound quality was just okay and I have had to change the battery with only a month use....

I purchased these earbuds to use when traveling. They are awkward to use, the sound is tinny with no bass whatsoever, and the noise cancellation is nonexistent. When you turn on the noise cancellation it ups the volume a bit and adds a quiet hiss, you can still hear everything going on around you. I am actually astonished at how awful these earbuds are. I was hoping for a 50% reduction in background noise, instead I have a product that is useless in any situation. Traditional earbuds are far superior. I passed the Koss earbuds on to two other people to try with the exact same results, no one wants them even for free.

Bad product, bad design, waste of money.
