I'm definitely not an audiophile. However, my usage ranges anywhere from 30 min. to 2 hours a day, a couple times a week.

In terms of sound, I've done some comparison tests with a supposedly higher-class pair of in-ear style headphones -- the Klipsch IMAGE S4 In-Ear Enhanced Bass Noise-Isolating Headphones -- and to be honest, the difference in quality is not too noticeable (if at all). When I'm sitting perfectly still, in a quiet setting, listening to delicate classical music, I would say the latter's range is quite stunning. Everything from the high trebles to the pounding bass is crisp and perfectly smooth. However, here (and only here) is where the Klipsch S4 may just outshine these eco-friendly Thinksounds (the range for the S4s is 10Hz - 19KHz, while the Thinksounds can handle 20Hz to 20kHz).

But back to the Thinksounds...if you're the type who doesn't sit in a dead-quiet environment to analyze minuscule details in sound-quality, but rather listens to music in any average setting, the sound is truly quite wonderful. I've had the best experience with music that requires a little more bass, and an equal amount of mid and high-level tones (think hip-hop, pop, dance, even rock). However, very bass-heavy music can be a bit of a strain, and I noticed that the 10mm speakers have trouble distinguishing notes in bass-heavy melodies. Other than that, the quality is surprisingly noticeable for a pair of headphones in the 50 dollar range, and is definitely competing in many ways with the 80-100 dollar S4.

In terms of build-quality, and general usability, a long cord (supposedly PVC-free) connects to a very sturdy gold-plated straight plug. The dark wood against the black plastic has a great feel, and the unheard-of range of ear-plug sizes is one-of-a-kind (literally, I have not run into a standard set of plugs with such a small size).

While I'm sure veteran in-ear headphone users are well aware of this, those thinking about purchasing their first pair should know that you can hear every single little vibration from any friction caused by your chord rubbing or hitting against just about anything (clothing (or skin?) while jogging, table's edge while browsing the web, etc). Also, chewing, swallowing, even -- sometimes -- breathing can be a bit distracting. However, this is the case with all well-fitting in-ears and it is merely a warning for newcomers into this fantastic, crisp and clear audio-world.

Personally, I'm willing to sit still and enjoy the music (although I can't say I'm one for rocking out or eating a meal while plugged into an mp3 player in the first place).

Also, on the very plus-side, these really do block out outside noise. Again, this is something in-ear users are probably used to, but switching from any normal headphones will definitely blow you away with how little you can hear around you (and for once, how little music others can hear from you).

They also come in a cute little biodegradable pouch. People say the wooden construction makes the sound more "natural" and "resonating", but personally I can't attest to the overwhelming difference (aside from interesting aesthetic quality, and perhaps an environmentally-clean conscience) the renewable wood creates.

Wonderful, unique headphones, and amazing bang for you buck....

After a lot of research I decided on these earbuds, and I am very glad I did. The sound is truly amazing. Full, rich, well balanced. I had gotten some cheaper Koss earbuds and there is no comparison. These blow them out of the water. They are also very comfortable for me. A dog already jumped up and yanked them out of my ears and out of the MP3 player onto the ground. No damage at all. These are a great deal....

I've gone through a slew of ear buds over time and these to date are one of the better ones I've encountered. The bass is deep and the highs and mid are at the right level. One of my biggest problems with ear buds in the past is finding the right fit. The only other ear bud that was of comparable sound quality were the Bose, but they kept falling out of my ear, even after they sent out the free upgrade of smaller sized fittings. With similar quality at half the price this is kinda a no brainer....
